City of Edmonton Transit Strategy

COMMENT

Led by the City of Edmonton’s Transportation Planning and Services branch, the Edmonton Transit Strategy was developed to weave together the different elements of transit planning into one concise strategy. The process was organized into three phases of engagement from summer 2015 to spring 2016. In one of the largest and most complex engagement processes undertaken by the City of Edmonton, the Intelligent Futures team assumed the lead role in workshop design and delivery, and feedback analysis and reporting.

During the two phases to date, Edmontonians were asked to offer feedback on the successes and potential improvements of transit in the city today. In phase two, these ideas were refined through an engagement process that emphasized prioritization. A number of different engagement opportunities were used to both raise awareness of the project and encourage participation, including a Edmonton Transit System bus that traveled the city and acted as a mobile engagement station.

The process continues, with over 40,000 citizen ideas for achievement and improvement gathered since the start of the engagement process.
