City of Calgary
‘Planning Chinatown’ was a community-wide engagement process that sought public feedback on a proposed land-use application within the neighbourhood and of key work to be addressed in a future Chinatown Area Redevelopment Plan. The engagement process and subsequent scoping report identified preliminary topics of concern, and the issues and aspirations raised by a range of community stakeholders. Intelligent Futures worked alongside The City of Calgary’s Planning Department to deliver an extensive engagement process across two phases in multiple languages to reach a broad cross-section of participants from both the Chinatown community and the city at large.
In each engagement phase, Intelligent Futures coordinated and implemented a suite of engagement activities – from sounding boards to intensive in-person workshops; developed and evolved engagement strategy; created a number of multilingual visual communication materials to support project activities and goals, and applied analytical expertise to clearly report on what was heard.
